“Running Away From Home”

Many of us have dreamed of running away from home, but some people actually do it. On May 4, as part of the SAGA Thursday Artist Talk series at the Surrey Art Gallery, you’ll hear entertaining stories from Surrey-based author and adventurer Joei Carlton Hossack who has lived unconventionally.

At forty-five years of age, Joei left home with her husband and purchased a motorhome in Britain. For two and a half years they visited Great Britain, most of Europe, and parts of Africa. Disaster struck when her husband passed away in Europe. After much deliberating, Joei decided to finish all the trips they had planned together. She spent a summer working on three archaeological digs in England, lived in Turkey for three months, and also stayed on the Greek Islands and Cyprus for a month. Her bravest adventure was driving by herself from Florida to Alaska in a motorhome before becoming a solo, full-time RVer.
