“That’s Coloured Pencil?”
Discover the amazing effects of coloured pencil!
Meet artist Alison Philpott who’ll introduce you to the increasingly popular medium of coloured pencil, an alternative to paint and brushes. In her talk, “That’s Coloured Pencil?” she will walk you through the process from inspiration to framing your piece and show you samples of her work, along with other artists’ styles.
‘A Winter’s Tail’
Whether your art is abstract or realist or somewhere in between, coloured pencil lends itself to highly detailed pieces.
Philpott says, “The same principles of composition and balance used in painting and drawing are used in coloured pencil work, but laying down the colour is quite different.” She will share how to achieve the effects that you want and discuss different pencil brands, surfaces, and tools to help you get there.
About the Artist
Alison Philpott devotes much of her time to expanding her skills, teaching a prison art class, and being a member of Fort Langley Artist’s Group.
Her drawing Pebbles 1 was awarded second place in a juried rnational exhibition, followed by an honourable mention for Bright Pebbles.
Alison achieved Expert status in Coloured Pencil Artist’s League, has been published three times, and has completed over fifty commissions.

There will be time for questions and conversation during and following the talk. The event concludes by 9pm. Refreshments are provided.
